Unexpected Blessings...

Sometimes God just surprises your socks off!  Like yesterday when we realized that the neighbor who has opposed us in our blueberry field plans from the beginning was actually moving huge, mature Arborvitae from his yard to right up next to the fence where it will provide privacy for both of our properties.  He didn't know that I was planning on buying those very same plants (albeit smaller, less expensive ones) to plant on OUR side of the fence, and that I was wondering where the funds would come from.  He didn't know that I would be DELIGHTED to not have to buy some of them (not to mention PLANT them), and that it will be a blessing to have that extra room on our side.  In fact, I have a feeling he thought he was actually thinking it would upset us that he put those plants there.  When we took down the trees that he'd planted on our property, he vowed to purchase some new large trees to replant.  We told him he was welcome to do what he wanted on HIS side of the fence, but that the fir on our side which would grow larger and produce more and more shade over the years would have to come down.  So, I guess, rather than spending more money on plants, he just decided to replant that area using plants that he had in another location.  In doing this, he has lost some of his driveway width, so is now extending the driveway in the other direction towards his house.

When we went down to shut and lock the gate after a wood delivery, I looked over at the new hedge and caught the attention of the scoffing son who waved and cackled sarcastically, like, "Hahaha.  We just planted these here and you can't do a THING about it!"  I gave him the thumbs up and said, "Looking good!"  He was probably disappointed in my reaction.  He may have meant this for evil, but God is using if for good!

Their moving those plants there is a delight to me! (Even though they are not quite close enough for total privacy, which baffles me.)  It means less money and work for us, as well as extra space on our side!  And that stretch was going to be the worst for us to plant because it was full of the stumps and roots of the trees that had been there before.  No need for a stump grinder now!  :)

I could not stop chuckling to myself last night.  God is so good!  He knows our needs before we even ask.  And he loves to surprise us with good things! And to use our very enemies, sometimes, to accomplish his good purposes.

Also, I called and ordered the peat moss which should arrive later this week, and also the berries which will be here February 12th.  It's starting to happen!  We're getting close to planting!  Even the needed wood for the last trench came yesterday, in perfect timing.  When it is dry again, we can get out there and fill that last trench and begin measuring for digging the holes.

One last, unexpected blessing:  The blueberries I bought were bigger than I had thought.  I thought I had bought the less expensive, younger plants, but no, they are all gallon sized!  So, all the sooner they will produce fruit!  :)  I am loved.
