Mulch needed...

Since Eric and I finished fencing in the parking area down in the field, I have signed up for "chip drop" service.  This is a Nationwide service that connects arborists with people wanting wood chips for free or very inexpensive.  I am open to paying $40 a load, which will increase my chances of actually getting some chips, but now there is the long waiting game...I will need to make some more phone calls to local tree guys to just ask them directly if they have any available.  And keep my eyes open for the orange Asplundh trucks.  Also, I need to mark the property better with an address plaque and sign for where exactly to dump the chips.  Make it simple.  Then make up maps for when I'm out and about. And have cookies frozen, too, as a thank you. ❤

I really need mulch! And don't have $1200 for it from the landscape supply place.  I noticed that in the rows we originally mulched with our home made chips, which were very fine in texture, that they have broken down very quickly, becoming more of a compost to grow in than a barrier for weeds. Yikes!  Also, most of those back 500 never received mulch on the sides of the mounds, due to the need to reshape... So I can forsee an enormous weed problem looming ahead, once the weather warms and seeds germinate, unless I act NOW.  This is super frustrating for me, the sole weeder.  So I am praying for a huge supply of mulch soon! And for gleaner/weeders this summer!

One bright spot is that the first pruning is coming along.  Mom and I together have pruned 404 of the 1000 so far on the few dry sunny days we have had this winter! I am so thankful for her heart and for her unfailing help!  It is so daunting to work alone on such an enormous project!  "Two are better than one, because they have a better return for their labor." ❤
